Part of Al Markhiya Street closed for work


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the closure of one direction of Al Markhiya Street from Friday morning until Saturday midnight.

The closure extends about 400 metres from Lejbilat Interchange to Onaiza Interchange to facilitate maintenance work, including repaving and asphalt works.

Motorists wishing to reach Onaiza Interchange via Lejbilat Interchange can turn right onto Al Taqadom Street (after Lejbilat Interchange) and turn left onto Al Muhandiseen Street which leads to Independence Street and onto Civil Defence Roundabout after which they can make a U-turn and come back to Oneiza Roundabout.

Ashghal will install signs to advise motorists of the closure. It urged road users to abide by speed limits and follow signs to ensure their safety.

Meanwhile, access and egress to and from Al Hiddan Street to Um Swaiah Street will be closed in the vicinity of Al Khor compound of Independent Schools for Girls for two months from tomorrow.

Vehicles will be able to access Al Hiddan Street exiting Um Swaiah Street onto Al Ishaiqr Street, turning left into Al Shadidah Street and again left into Al Hiddan Street.

Egress to Um Swaiah Street will be via Al Shadidah Street and Al Ishaiqr Street.

The closure aims to facilitate completion of phase two of developments of roads and infrastructure of Al Khor Commercial Street.
