Lenovo's revenue up 20 percent in FY2014-15

(MENAFN) China's Lenovo revenue surged 20 percent in its past fiscal year, driven by its purchase of Motorola last year as the PC maker diversifies into the smartphone market, AFP reported.

The world's biggest personal computer maker said revenue reached USD46.30 billion for the year ending March 31. Revenue from the company's mobile business increased 71 percent to USD9.14 billion.

However, net profit growth slowed to just 1 percent to reach USD829 million owing to increased operating expenses, slightly below the expected net average of USD830.2 million.

"The rise of new technology and market trends, particularly the social mobile Internet, has posed market opportunities and challenges as consumer behavior is changing," the company said in a filing.
