Kuwaiti athletes take gold in relay, bronze in triple jump at Arab ch'ships


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait took home a second gold medal and another bronze at the Arab Athletics Championship in the 4x100m relay and the triple jump respectively on Sunday.

Issa and Yaqoub Al-Youha, Abdulaziz Al-Mandeel and Mishal Al-Mutairi together took the 4x100m relay with Khaled Al-Subaiei clinching his country's bronze in the tournament.

The Kuwaiti relay side managed to set a new national record with a time of 39:75 seconds, according to chief delegate Kuwait Amateur Athletics Federation official Khaled Al-Shemmeri.

Kuwaiti athletes clinched one gold, one silver and one bronze medal in Saturday's events, namely in the 110m hurdles and the shot put.

Abdulaziz Al-Mandeel and Ahmad Abul came first and second in the 110m hurdles, with Ahmad Abul snatching shot put bronze.

Some 700 athletes (men and women) from 21 Arab nations are taking part in the competition.
