The company said it has provided provided a free boost to the upload speeds for all Ooredoo fibre customers on Ooredoo Consumer and "Business Fibre" plan.

Upload speed is the speed at which information is transferred from their device to the internet. The speed increase was rolled-out this week as the company continues to offer a bigger, faster network for all of Qatar.

Following the announcement, residential customers using the 10 Mbps plan, who currently have upload speeds of up to 1.25 Mbps, will now enjoy upload speeds of 2.5 Mbps. Business fibre customers on the 10 Mbps plan, who currently get upload speeds of up to 2.5 Mbps, will now experience upload speeds of up to 5 Mbps.

The double speed boost is valid for all fibre plans, so that customers on the top-end 100 Mbps will see a major leap, with upload speeds of up to 25 Mbps for residential fibre users and 50 Mbps for business customers.

The fibre speed upgrade is free and permanent, and customers are being automatically upgraded, with no requirement for any customer action.

"Ooredoo believes in the life-enhancing features that fibre technology can have for the whole community. This speed boost is not just about updating our customer experience and network, but also ensuring that we are ready to support the next generation of fibre-based solutions, such as personal cloud services," said Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director, Community & Public Relations, Ooredoo.

This upload speed upgrade comes just six months after Ooredoo announced a free speed upgrade for all 1Mbps and 10Mbps home fibre plans, as the company continues to roll-out a world-class fibre network across the country.
