LG Display profits hit USD440.8m in Q1

(MENAFN) LG Display Co. said it returned to profit in the first quarter of this year, boosted by robust sales of Apple Inc.'s iPhone 6 lineup and growing demand for high-end TVs, Yonhap News reported.

South Korea's top flat panel maker's net profit reached USD440.8 million in the January-March period compared to a net loss of USD75.6 million logged in the prior year, the company said.

The figure was well higher than the median estimate of USD340.99 million in net profit polled by Yonhap Infomax, the financial news arm of Yonhap News Agency, based on the consensus by 15 local brokerages.

Meanwhile, operating income came to USD677.65 million during the first quarter, growing by nearly eightfold from a year ago. Sales also jumped 25.7 percent on-year to USD6.47 billion in the same period.
