Egypt received USD23b aid from Gulf in 18 months


(MENAFN) Egypt received USD23 billion in aid from Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait in the 18 months since former President Mursi was ousted, Investment Minister said, Reuters reported.

According to the Egyptian Investment Minister's statement at a business conference in Dubai, the aid included oil shipments, cash grants and deposits in Egypt's central bank.

The three Gulf countries, totally opposed to Mursi's presidency, accumulated aid after his ousting and were spending a lot to further solidify the status of current President al-Sisi.
