Iran's investments in ports amount to USD1.3b

(MENAFN) Iran has made investments worth USD1.3 billion in the port and maritime sectors since the beginning of the tenure of the current government amid restrictions and issues facing the country, Iran Daily reported.

The roads and urban development minister said that the government is duty bound to reduce the costs associated with commercial, economic and political deals with foreign countries.

The private sector alone has made USD900 million worth of investments in Iranian ports during the year to mid-March, some US600 million of which have been made in southern and northern ports of Iran.

"Iran should rank first in the region in terms of transportation and economy," the minister said, adding that this is among the main objectives envisaged by the 2025 Vision document.
