India's oil imports from Iran up 38 percent in Jan.-Nov.

(MENAFN) Trade sources said that India has imported about 38 percent more oil from Iran in the January-November period as further easing of Western sanctions on the latter, Iran Daily reported.

India, Iran's top client after China, imported 250,600 barrels per day (bpd) of crude in November, showing a growth of 14 percent from a year ago and a drop of 19 percent from October.

Indian private refiner Essar Oil topped the list of Iranian oil buyers last month, followed by state-run Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemical Ltd. which together make up regular monthly importers of Iranian crude.

Meanwhile, Iran's share of Indian oil imports stood at about 7.1 percent in the first eleven-month period of the current year, compared with 5 percent last year, the data showed.
