Doctors, hospital sued over botched surgery

(MENAFN- The Peninsula)  DOHA: A woman has taken two doctors and a famous hospital to court for allegedly mishandling an appendicitis surgery. The doctors have been accused of failing to take the required steps while performing the operation which led to vein injury, Al Sharq reported yesterday. The Public Prosecution after investigations referred the matter to the court. The first accused has been charged with not taking adequate precaution and care that were expected from an experienced physician while performing the surgery, thus causing injury to the vein resulting in more complications.

According to the charges filed, the second accused, despite his experience and specialisation failed to identify the reason for the bleeding at the right time because he didn't use the modern ways of diagnosis. He also failed to refer the patient to another hospital or call a consultant at the right time and this led to deterioration in her health condition.

The duo has been accused of violating of Article 1, and 37 and 313 of the penal code and Article no 18 and 22 of regulations governing medical practice. The third accused in the case is the hospital where the operation was conducted.
