Qatar- QSL: El Jaish face Al Gharafa today

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Third-placed El Jaish will seek to narrow the gap between them and two higher placed rivals - Lekhwiya and Al Sadd € when they take on Al Gharafa in the ninth round match of the Qatar Stars League (QSL) here today.

The match is a home match for Al Gharafa and will kick off at 7.45pm.

El Jaish have 15 points, the same as Qatar SC, while Al Gharafa have one point less, all having played eight matches.

Defending champions Lekhwiya at the top of the summit is comfortably placed at 21 points while Al Sadd is close with one point less.

In the other matches today, Al Khor take on Al Shamal at Al Khor Stadium, while Al Shahaniya face Al Arabi at Al Gharafa Stadium, both 5.30pm kick off's

At Wakra Stadium the home side will face Al Ahli at 7.45pm.

Tomorrow matches will involve both the QSL leaders Lekhwiya and second placed Al sad.

Qatar Sports Club will take on second placed Al Sadd who has been in blistering goal scoring form this season and still remain unbeaten. The match will kick off at Qatar SC Stadium at 7:45.

Yet things won't be easy for the Wolves as Qatar Sports Club have transformed themselves this season after a slow start to their campaign, and with new head coach Radhi Shenaishil at the helm it will be difficult to say who will come out on top in this encounter.

The Kings have the current QSL top scorer in Hamadi Harbaoui, he joined the Kings this season from the Belgian Pro League where he finished top scorer last season. The Tunisian forward has seven goals to his name and looks a real threat against any opponent.

Al Sadd, perhaps have already played one of their biggest games of the season when they beat last season's champions Lekhwiya 3-0 in round 6 and the Wolves will be hoping to continue to pull away from the chasing pack in their upcoming clash.

However the timing for Sadd head coach Hussein Ammouta couldn't be worse as the Kings is a rejuvenated outfit that will be looking to get another major scalp tomorrow.

On paper Al Sadd have the history and pedigree that would make you think it's merely a formality but the Kings have gone on a run of great wins except in their loss to El Jaish in round 7.

Qatar SC sits in fourth place in the standings and knows that they must win if they harbor any ambitions of a top four finish or better.
