Oman's PEIE, Italian firm ink consultancy for Ibri project

(MENAFN) The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) announced it has signed consultancy agreements with F&M Ingegneria Spa, the leading Italian engineering consultancy firm to develop the Ibri logistics area in Dhahirah governorate in the west of Oman, Times of Oman reported.

The integrated logistics project in Ibri, which is expected to become a site for logistics activities comprising storage, shipping, exporting and supplying activities, will be developed by PEIE on an estimated area of 3 million square meters.

The master plan of the Ibri logistics area will include storage units, light industries, administration building, and station for loading and unloading goods linked to the national railway project through Ibri station.
Due to its strategic located between the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, the project is expected to play a vital role in Oman's trade but it also has to take into consideration the activities surrounding the area including the international road to Saudi Arabia, the railway and future industrial estates.

"This project will open new horizons for the private sector and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to invest in building warehouses, supplying and importing, and exporting Omani products to foreign markets. There are also ongoing studies to establish new estates in the various governorates in the coming phase," PEIE said in a statement.
