(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) As the international community works to counter the threat of ISIL, the Assad regime is targeting communities in Syria that are also confronting the dangers of extremist groups, US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on Wednesday. "We condemn in the strongest terms the Syria regime's indiscriminate bombing of a densely populated neighborhood in Damascus," Psaki said during a briefing. According to eyewitness, hundreds of rockets have struck the neighborhood of Jobar over the past six days, she said.
"This de facto carpet bombing has utterly destroyed entire city blocks of a neighborhood that has already been targeted by the regime before," she added. "We call on the Syrian regime and their patrons to immediately stop the indiscriminate shelling of Jobar and countless other towns across Syria," Psaki said. "We have been clear that those responsible for such atrocities must be held accountable," she added.
