According to an Oman Sail press release on Wednesday OC Sport the organiser of the ESS has confirmed that Act 2 will be held in Muscat from March 11-14 following the opening Act in Singapore from February 5-8.
The 2015 ESS will be the ninth edition and will span eight venues across three continents with the organisers opening up entries for the existing teams until September 30. Entry for new teams closes on November 1.
Oman has been the most successful nation in the history of the Series with sultanate teams having lifted the trophy three times. The Wave Muscat which is skippered by Leigh Mcillan is the defending champion. David Graham Oman Sail's CEO said that competitions like the ESS are important for the organisation's wider objectives.
'We are delighted to welcome the ESS back to Muscat for a fifth consecutive year. 'This globally-acclaimed stadium sailing event is an integral part of our Omani sailors' training programme and provides our sponsors with an efficient platform to reach their target audiences around the world' he said.
'Hosting international sailing events is central to Oman Sail's strategy of using the power of sport to promote Oman and contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.'
Besides the ESS Oman also hosts other major international sailing events including the RC44 Championship Tour. Last year three back-to-back Laser world championships were held in Musannah.
