The 20-year-old Emirati corporal is believed to have gained the Filipina’s trust after showing her his police card.
According to prosecution records he spotted her waiting for a cab shortly before midnight in Al Warqa. He stopped for her and offered to drop her. However he drove her to a dark location near a construction site where he allegedly raped her. He faced two charges of rape and kidnap.
The 41-year-old woman who works in sales told the prosecutor that she was to spend that night at her friend’s place when the defendant stopped for her and asked for her ID which he kept along with her mobile phone. As he drove he kept silent until he reached a dark location where he reportedly told her about his intentions. She tried to stop him but in vain she claimed.
She could not stop him from forcing himself on her and he did not listen to her imploration that she was old and had children she said. He simply told her that he did not care and allegedly raped her as she cried and tried to push him away.
He dropped her later at a bus stop in Al Warqa and told her not to inform anyone about the incident. A civil police car later stopped for her and called an ambulance for her.
A police corporal said that they tracked the defendant through his car’s registration plate number. “We knew that his car belonged to a rental agency. We got the name of the accused from the agency’s office. It became clear that he worked as a cop.”
The accused was arrested around 10pm at his workplace on May 12. He reportedly admitted to the police that he raped the complainant.
