(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Indian Social Club (ISC) Salalah hosted a grand reception for the Indo“Oman high level defence delegation on Wednesday at Sultan Qaboos Multipurpose Hall in the august presence of the distinguished invitees and members of Indian Social club. 

H E J S Mukul Ambassador of India to the sultanate was the chief guest of the function. The NDC delegation was headed by Maj Gen Vivek Pratap Singh and a team of high ranking officers of Indian defence.

From Oman the prominent personalities of defence Brig Saif bin Mohammed bin Said al Shedi commander of 11 Infantry Brigade; Air Commodore Ahmed bin Said bin Rashid al Baloushi Salalah Air Base commander; Brig Awad bin Sulaiman al Nazwani Firqat Force commander; Wing Commander Zahran bin Ali Ambousaidi Thumrait Air Base Commander were the guests of honour in addition to military officers from Brazil Sri Lanka Bhutan and Brunei. They were given a rousing welcome by the chairman Manpreet Singh members of the management committee and the Indian community of Salalah.

Manpreet Singh chairman ISC Salalah presented bouquets to all the dignitaries. He also presented a memento to H E J S Mukul who then presented mementoesto all the dignitaries present on the occasion. Singh welcomed and introduced the members of the delegation to the audience. The Sultan Qaboos Multipurpose Hall was fully packed to its corridors.

In his welcome speech Singh enlightened the audience about the achievements Indian ambassador and Maj Gen Singh the head of the delegation and the purpose of Indo-Oman joint delegation meet in which members of other countries Nepal Brunei Brazil and Sri Lanka were also present.

H E Mukul hailed and lauded the old relations between India and Oman. He further wished the people of Oman prosperity and well-being under the able leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. The hospitality being enjoyed by the Indian community in Oman was highly appreciated. The ambassador also praised the ISC management committee for doing the wonderful job in all its endeavours.

Maj Gen Singh in his speech appreciated the tradition and culture of the people of this country and praised the fast pace development of the people and prosperity of the nation.

A cultural event was presented in honour of the delegations after which Vinay Kumar general secretary ISC Salalah proposed the vote of thanks.
