Fiat, Chrysler merger on track

(MENAFN) Italian carmaker Fiat noted that its merger with US affiliate Chrysler was on track as shareholders had chosen not to delay the plan, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

The two carmakers will be incorporate into a Dutch-registered company called Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), paving the way for a US listing that would help funding the investment.

The investment may fail if Fiat was asked to pay more than USD658 million to investors who decide to sell their stakes, exercising a legal right triggered by Fiat's decision to move its registered offices from Italy.

"Fiat has determined that the maximum number of shares for which cash exit rights have been validly exercised will yield an aggregate exposure that is below the cap," it said in a statement.
