The Caribbean receive 14m tourists in H1

(MENAFN) According to the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), the tourist numbers to the islands rose in the first six months of the year, Xinhua reported.

Around 14 million tourists visited the region between January and June of 2014, an increase of 4.3 percent from the same period last year, the CTO said.

The US came first in terms of the largest sources of tourists, accounting for 6.87 million of tourists, up 3.9 percent from the 6.61 million registered a year ago.

Tourists from Europe and Canada also registered increases of 6 percent and 4.3 percent, respectively, according to the organization.

"Enough evidence suggests that there is growing economic confidence in the region's biggest neighbor," the CTO's director of research and IT said.
