(MENAFN - Arab News) Several categories of government employees and high-ranking officials will not be allowed to marry foreigners according to a list that was recently published by the Interior Ministry.
Ministers prominent government employees presidents of shareholding companies and customs employees are among the many Saudi officials who have been included on the list.
Members of the Justice Ministry and the Board of Grievances notaries Royal Court and Council of Ministers employees Shoura Council members Foreign Affairs Ministry employees diplomatic administrators and Saudis employed by the government abroad are also not allowed to marry non-Saudis according to the list which included several other categories.
Thes include Defense Ministry officials from the Armed Forces and the National Guard and internal security employees whether officers detectives or general intelligence personnel in the military or civil domains.
Students abroad on scholarship have surprisingly featured in the new regulations.
Both board chairmen and elected members of shareholding companies are included as well as members of the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution and customs officials.
Restrictions also apply to marriage between citizens and other members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
All other employees can obtain consent for intercultural marriage with Arabs and Muslims from other countries from the Interior Ministry. A A
