(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The RTA launched the Madinati app to serve the community and to help transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world.The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) received 438 emergency reports of damage to public property from the public via the ‘Madinati’ smart app. The app which was launched in March 2013 is a tool for the public to report potential hazards to the RTA by sending images from their smart phones.
These reports have led to the problems being resolved “swiftly” said Ahmed Mahboob Director of RTA Customers Service.
The RTA launched the Madinati app to serve the community and to help transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world as per the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and in support of the initiative of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart Government Programme.
Mahboob said the app has a feature enabling it to automatically detect the geographical sitemap of the intended location if the sender fails to send it. “Direct reports on our call centre (8009090) also registered a significant rise with 22000 reports” he said.
With the app Mahboob said the RTA has achieved a number of its objectives and helped in saving the time and efforts of inspectors. “Our inspectors carry out periodic site inspections to spot any damage or risks ... and accordingly inform the bodies concerned to take appropriate action.”
To file an emergency report the person has to download the app; select Arabic or English from the sub-menu; click on Madinati for emergency reports; click on ‘New Report’; write the report in the ‘Description Box’; specify the location of the report by pressing ‘Select Site’; upload an image in support of the report; and press the ‘Send’ button.
Launched in 2007 the Madinati system enhances the feedback from the community in preserving the aesthetic and civilised appearance of Dubai.
