Qalex receives ISO 9001:2008 certification

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Aluminium Extrusion Company (Qalex), the first local extruder in Qatar, has recently obtained the ISO 9001:2008 certification from TÙ€V Nord, Qatar.

Qalex was a brainchild of Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company (QIMC), which has a holding of 40 percent in the company, along with Salam International (20 percent), Alutec (10 percent), QREIC (10 percent), Aluminium Gulf Ray (10 percent), Qatar Oman Investments Co. (5 percent) and Qatar Belgium Aliuminium Co (5 percent). The company with an extrusion capacity of 8,000 tonnes per annum started commercial production in June 2012, and has carved a niche for itself, within a short span of time, despite competitive pressure from large exporters from the region.

Established on a sprawling 28,000m2 plot in the New Salwa Industrial Area, with state-of-the-art extrusion facilities housed in a 13,000m2 covered steel structure, Qalex has the capability to produce mill finish and powder coated profiles of various sizes and shapes. It is in the process of expanding its capacity, as well as adding facilities to produce other value added profiles, in line with changing market requirements. It is also designing its own sophisticated architectural system, which will put the company in a different league.

Abdul Rahman Al Ansari (pictured), Chairman of Qalex and CEO of QIMC said: "We never compromise on quality. The ISO 9001 certification is a confirmation that we have a top class Quality Management System in place that ensures we produce profiles that consistently meet the highest quality standards".

"We are thankful to TÙ€V Nord, Qatar for undertaking the ISO 9001 certification assignment and executing it in a professional manner. When an internationally reputed certification body like TÙ€V endorses you, it gives you the confidence that you are going in the right direction.

"With the ISO 9001 certification and the other exciting developments happening in the company, we are well positioned to cater to the aluminium needs of the industrial, infrastructure and construction sectors in Qatar." he added.
