Alstom wins power lines contacts worth USD1.05b


(MENAFN) Alstom Group has won contracts with a total value of USD1.05 billion to build high-voltage direct power transmission lines in India, South Korea and Canada, Gulf Daily News reported.

Under the two contracts, the French electrical engineering group will be able to transfer up to 6,000 megawatts of power in India from the center of the country to the north.

In Canada, Alstom will build a 1,100 km long 350 kV line to transmit hydropower from the 824 megawatts Muskrat Falls dam to the island of Newfoundland, the group said.

Alstom said its Alstom Grid unit is one of the top three providers of HVDC technologies worldwide, and has delivered more than 35,000 MW of connection capacity around the world.
