Kuwait- Education Ministry tackles problems ahead of scholastic year

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Ministry of Education's officials hold regular weekly meetings to follow up on public schools' conditions, said the Acting Minister of Education and Higher Education on Sunday.

Dr. Abdulmohsen Al-Madaj, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce and Industry, said in a statement, after inspecting schools in Mubarak Al-Kabeer district, that he holds weekly meetings with leaders of the ministry to follow up on conditions of the schools in all the educational regions.

He acknowledged that there is some shortage of supplies and resources in the public teaching sector due to the large number of schools and
kindergartens, amounting to 800.

The official's field tour coincided with preparations at various levels for the coming new scholastic year, due next month, following the summer holiday.

Dr. Al-Madaj indicated that he was tackling transport problems for some schools by specializing new buildings for classes, however, he confirmed that some schools' buildings lacked laboratories, furniture and some other basic facilities. However, the ministry's logistics department has been directed to tackle these matters.

The ministry is basically seeking to secure buildings for some schools to relieve female students of long distances, the Acting Minister, said, indicating that he was preoccupied with resolving other problems, such as securing supervisors and nurses.
