Turkey calls on Libya's parties to immediately stop fighting

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Turkey on Sunday urged conflicting parties in Libya to resolve their disputes through dialogue and to support United Nations efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire between them.

Ankara is anxiously keeping an eye on the continuing clashes in Libya, including fighting in Benghazi and Tripoli, and has expressed its sorrow over the killings of civilians and the destruction of the country's infrastructure, said a statement by Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is regrettable that many civilians were killed in air strikes targeted Benghazi and other areas, including those near Tripoli, noted the statement.

The problems in Libya can be resolved by the will of Libyans not by foreign intervention, the statement added.
