Israel retaliates for rocket attack

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Israeli artillerymen late on Saturday retaliated for a rocket attack from southern Lebanon hitting locations on the border Lebanese territories, the local media reported.

The reports indicated that the artillery shells targeted the locations where a couple of rockets were fired on northern Israel, earlier tonight.

The two rockets were unleashed from spots close to the remote villages of Alma Al-Shaab and Tair Harfa. Lebanese Army troops sealed off these areas after the incident.

In Israel, an army spokesman confirmed that a single rocket fired from southern Lebanon hit northern Israel but caused no injuries.

The border region has recently witnessed such tit for tat attacks.

Southern Lebanon is patrolled by local army troops and international peacekeepers. This front has remained generally calm since the 2006 war when Israel carried out a wide-scale offensive and Hezbollah retaliated with rocket attacks on many Lebanese towns and settlements.
