UAE- Tram projects last traffic diversion on Jumeirah Beach Residence Street

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will implement the last traffic diversion on Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) Street to accommodate the works of the Dubai Tram Project. The diversion work warrants the temporary closure of two lanes on both sides of the street shifting traffic to the service road. The 1km-long diversion will last for at least a month.

Maitha bin Udai CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency said “The RTA’s priority is to ensure the highest degree of smooth traffic flow in the area which requires the cooperation of visitors and motorists by observing and complying with road rules and following directional signs to avoid traffic snarls.”

The Dubai Tram Project extends for a distance of 14.6km along Al Sufouh Street. In the first phase work on tram track measuring 10.6km will be completed starting at the Dubai Marina and ending at the Tram Depot near the Dubai Police Academy.

A total of 11 stations will be implemented in this phase covering business districts and densely populated areas. Eleven trams will be operational with 14 more to be added to the fleet in the second phase bringing the total to 25.

Bin Udai stressed the RTA’s keenness to reduce the duration of project works in order to minimise traffic jams resulting from traffic diversions and complete these works in the shortest possible time.—newskhaleejtimes.com
