GCC inflation rate between 1.21-3.1 percent in June


(MENAFN) According to a report by the Statistical Center for the Co-operation for GCC (GCC-Stat), the inflation rate across the GCC countries ranged between 1.21 percent and 3.1 in June, Gulf Daily News reported.

Bahrain topped the list, recording a 3.1 percent inflation rate in the first half of the year, Kuwait followed with 2.87 percent, Qatar with 2.8 percent, 2.7 percent in Saudi Arabia, 2.21 in UAE and Oman came in last with 1.21 percent.

On a monthly basis, the inflation rate registered an increase of 1.3 in Bahrain, 0.41 in UAE, and 0.2 in both Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. However, a slight decrease in both Qatar and Oman was recorded, with 0.1 and 0.07, respectively.

The figures showed an overall increase across the GCC countries in the prices of water, housing, electricity, gas and other fuels in June, with Qatar coming first with 7.4 percent, Bahrain followed with 5.6 percent.
