Arab League sends "urgent" messages to IAEA members over Israel's nuclear facilities

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby has sent "urgent" messages to the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) member states asking for their support for an Arab draft resolution forcing Israel to join the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The league said in a statement it was exerting efforts to rally international support to get the Arab draft resolution approved, as part of international efforts to clear the Middle East region from nuclear weapons.

These messages are about the Arab draft resolution, which is about Israel's nuclear capabilities, due to be submitted to the IAEA's General Conference in Vienna, Austria, next month, said the league.

It added that draft resolution called upon Israel to join the NPT and place its nuclear facilities to the IAEA's safeguard system.

The Arab League called on all friendly countries and support the Arab draft resolution.
