More openings for charity school students in Africa


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) E Africa International University (AIU) will accept more students enrolled in Al Maktoum Foundation charity schools.The university located in Karen — a Nairobi suburb within a serene environment conducive for learning — paid tribute to the education project undertaken by Al Maktoum Foundation in Africa.

Prof Dankit Nassiuma AIU vice-chancellor praised Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance for his generous support to the university. “We shall always be ready to accept more students of the Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum charity schools from all African countries particularly Somalia.”

Dr Ezzuddin manager of the Admissions Office said many students of the Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum charity schools are performing well. “They have coped with the advanced education techniques and have even far excelled their counterparts.”

Mohammed Ahmed Ismael representative of Al Maktoum Foundation in Somalia said up to 1500 students of the Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid School in Hargeisa city of Somalia have graduated from several universities in Sudan Egypt Saudi Arabia Malaysia and even Europe.

“They are now working in Hargeisa as doctors engineers lawyers and professionals in various fields” he said adding that the foundation is currently sponsoring up to 2112 regular students at different universities. “Al Maktoum Foundation is giving a critical boost to education in Africa.”

Mirza Hussain Al Sayegh board member of the Al Maktoum Foundation earlier told Khaleej Times that 60 per cent of the foundation’s annual Dh100 million budget is dedicated for activities abroad particularly education programmes.
