Kuwait- His Highness the Amir delivers speech to nation

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah delivered an address to the nation on Wednesday evening. Following is the full text of the speech; In the Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Dear brothers and sons, the sincere sons of my homeland; Peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you; I'd like to offer my greetings to all of you on the occasion of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan. Out of keenness on my habit to have an open dialogue with you on all current affairs of our dear homeland, I followed up with profound concern, resentment and regret the recent controversy and tensions over allegations and claims which will constitute, if proven true, serious crimes that can never go unpunished. I say, if proven true, these claims jeopardize the security of the homeland, the Constitution and institutions of the State, the integrity of the judiciary authority. I was dismayed by the flurry of reports on these claims and traded accusations on the various mass media and social media tools that carried these unverified defaming reports without meticulous care. Everybody could be affected or offended by defamation that was exchanged without evidence. As a result, everybody based their respective stances on their own interests and away from objective truth, right and justice. Such unreasonable and irresponsible behaviors run counter to our true values and the teachings of our noble faith which instructs the believers to be careful lest they could recklessly slander innocent people. Our faith also teaches us to use good wisdom in making their points clear and puts taboo on going to extremes in feud or using slander in speech. I've had candid brotherly meetings with a number of citizens and I felt their concern and dismay over the futile controversy which could destabilize the country. There is urgent need to break this vicious cycle in order to continue our march towards comprehensive development. Now that the whole case and documents are at the hands of the Public Prosecution, everybody, I say again everybody, has to stop the controversy over this subject pending a verdict by our judiciary, known for their fairness and integrity. I assure you there will be no lenience for anybody who proves to be tampering with the state funds or involved in illicit gains. If anybody has documents relevant to the case, they should present them to the Public Prosecution; this is a national duty. It's now clear that raising this issue and the relating rumors after referring the issue to the Public Prosecution, is not a pointless matter; it's rather part of a planned and large-scale design aiming to destabilize the country, its constitution and institutions, and undermine the principles on which the Kuwaiti society was based. This design aims also to undermine the trust of the citizens in the future of their homeland, weaken the national unity, and make our country, God forbids, a prey to our enemies. Do you accept such a fate? It's a sacred duty to defend the security, stability and sovereignty of Kuwait; we dedicate ourselves to this responsibility which should be shouldered relentlessly by all of us. Everybody has to understand that we never allow connivance at corruption or corrupt persons. We can never accept any infringement on the sanctity of the public funds. To the contrary, We stand firm against anybody who might think of tampering with the public funds and call upon all citizens to follow our suit and cooperate with the investigative agencies through providing them with any relevant documents. It hurts me the most that such acts and practices take place while Kuwait is under great dangers and facing serious challenges, as around us the displaced are in the millions and victims are falling by the hundreds day by day. We are in dire need for unity and cohesion, and stand together in order to escape these dangers. We do not have the luxury of division, useless controversy and political bickering while calamities are at our door steps. Are you aware of what is happening not so far from us? As proud as we are of the virtue of freedom as a civilized achievement, we also must maintain it - Its value is in its legal and moral frameworks that respect freedoms of others and safeguard their dignities. Freedom, responsibility and dialogue are inseparable, or chaos, destruction and conflict would be the alternative. Freedom is useless if it jeopardizes Kuwait's safety and security; goes against our religion and Sharia; tears down our values and ethics; crosses over the law and disrespects judiciary; spreads prejudice and brings about chaos and destruction. I am certain that our beloved Kuwait is immune against whoever wants to harm it and will always be home for prosperity and safety and a beacon for civilization.
