UAE- Drive to set conditions for caravan production

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Days after an emirati police officer and his wife were found dead after inhaling toxic fumes from a generator in their wooden caravan at a fujairah tourist resort the civil defence department here is planning to launch an extensive crackdown on workshops which manufacture prefabricated caravans.

the aim of the drive is to set conditions for manufacturing such caravans or trailers.

in the drive workshops will be warned that those found violating the set conditions will be liable to legal action. the campaign will help avoid cases of leakage of carbon monoxide from engines and charcoal cooking.

according to colonel saif bin shamis al mazroui acting director of the fujairah civil defence licences have not been issued thus far to any workshops manufacturing prefabricated caravans or trailers in fujairah.

colonel mazroui urged the public to carry out their “humanitarian duty” by alerting the department about risks arising from the leakage of carbon monoxide and other toxic gases. he warned about the dangers of inhaling carbon monoxide and underscored the importance of the instructions released by the department about the annual maintenance of heating equipment and air conditioners.— salahئkhaleejtimes.com
