Royal Oman Police News 332 Labour Law violators arrested in Dhofar


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Dhofar Police Command has arrested 332 Asian nationals for violating the Labour and Residency Laws.

A source said that police officials, in cooperation with concerned bodies, carried out a raid on a number of houses and arrested these violators.

He said that the operation was conducted as part of efforts exerted by ROP, in cooperation with concerned authorities to combat illegal immigration which impacts the country's economic and social security.

The source said that such raids will continue to be carried out across the governorate in future as well.

He called upon citizens to adhere to laws regarding the employment of workers, affirming at the same time the importance to report any violations related to the Labour and Foreign Residency Laws on 9999.

One held for forgery

The Directorate of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations at the Dhahirah Police Command has arrested an Asian national from the wilayat of Ibri for forging visa papers. ‘The accused had handed over a forged residency card to an expatriate with data of another person.'

Police officials raided his house and recovered 17 forged visas, 39 photos and 14 passport copies in addition to fake school certificates, copies of employment contracts and medical reports.

Heroin, morphine seized in Seeb

The Directorate General for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances has arrested two Asians from the wilayat of Seeb on charges of smuggling, possessing and trafficking narcotic substances.

An official said that the first accused was arrested while handing over drugs to the second.

''As many as 77 heroin capsules weighing more than half a kilogramme and 200gm of morphine were recovered from them,'' he added.

Prostitution ring busted in Salalah

Sleuths from the Inquiries and Criminal Investigations at the Dhofar Police Command have arrested four persons including three women on charges of prostitution from a flat in the wilayat of Salalah.

A source said that the raid was conducted on the basis of a tip-off. The accused have been referred to the Public Prosecution for trial.

Raid in Liwa leads to huge liquor haul

  In cooperation with the North Batinah Police Command, the Department of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations at the Sohar police station arrested three Asians on charges of bootlegging during a raid conducted on their residence at a farm in the wilayat of Liwa.

Huge quantity of liquor bottles and cans were seized during the raid.

The accused have been referred to the Public Prosecution for trial.<
