Employees of Oman Oil Company support rehabilitation and health programmes

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Supporting initiatives that contribute to the wellbeing of local communities across the sultanate, employees from Oman Oil Company (OOC) and its group of companies recently visited the Association of Early Intervention for Children with Disabilities in Muscat and Al Noor Association for the Blind in Sohar.

The visits were part of the Staff Donation Programme, an OOC corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaign, conducted by the Corporate Sustainability Department, which started at the beginning of 2013 with over 200 participants.

The campaign encourages a culture of volunteerism and ensures employee engagement with local communities in order to enhance the quality of life of Omanis. ''We are encouraging our peers at OOC and its group of companies to volunteer and show their support for two projects that positively impact the lives of persons with disabilities.

The first is a ‘Children Adoption Scheme' in partnership with the Association of Early Intervention for Children with Disabilities, where employees enhance the Association's role to adopt and rehabilitate disabled children,'' said Al Mutasim al Sariri, head of corporate sustainability department at OOC.

''The second raises funds to build a gym for Al Noor Association for the blind at its branch in Sohar. The gym will contribute to maintaining a healthy lifestyle for the blind and the society, while providing a sustainable source of income for the association by offering community memberships,'' said Sariri. In addition to OOC, employees from Takatuf Oman, Oman Gas Company, Oman India Fertiliser Company, Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production, Takamul Investment Company and Oman Aluminium Rolling Company, participated in the visits
