(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Popular family edutainment destination opens at trade centre tomorrow with an array of fun activities for children and families.

promising a smile on every child’s face modhesh world 2014 will begin with the festivities of celebrating its 15th edition from tomorrow. with the approaching summer holidays in dubai the most popular family edutainment destination in the region will be packed with an array of fun activities for children and families.

modhesh world 2014 will open in phases from june 12 at the dubai world trade centre and will run till september 8. it will help visitors know more about emirati culture and traditions at the heritage zone. in celebration of the eid festivities modhesh world will also host the world premieres of interactive experiences featuring the angry birds universe and the transformers.

laila mohammed suhail ceo of dubai festivals and retail establishment (dfre) an agency of the department of tourism and commerce marketing (dtcm) said that modhesh world has emerged as a leading family edutainment facility in summers. “it is the high calibre of international entertainment offered at modhesh world such as the world premiere of the angry birds universe interactive experience that tends to tempt large numbers of children and parents to spend their summer holidays in dubai.”

“today modhesh world has firmly established itself as an edutainment hub that gives children the opportunity to enjoy extraordinary experiences and get creative in a fun ambience. with its range of world-class entertainment we expect modhesh world 2014 to set the tone for the rest of dubai’s summer season as it gets ready to welcome visitors from around the world to its 15th anniversary celebrations and offer them an endless summer of family fun” suhail said.

the 89-day excitement and fun will feature fun rides in carousel chair-o-plane and crazy wave as well as kiddie bungee jumping bouncy castle-type inflatable arcade and video games.

by june 19 modhesh world will open up more fun activities for all ages such as the wwe non-contact wrestling experience hello kitty and friends around the world the lego/duplo zone the laser quest laser- tag game the ice-themed winter wonderland and little stars a zone sponsored by dubai electricity and water authority to help children develop motor skills and learn a number of sports.

the opening of modhesh world will simultaneously launch dfre’s annual summer calendar to further enhance dubai’s position as a year-round family tourism destination. in addition to modhesh world other key summer festivals and special occasions organised by dfre are: ramadan in dubai from june 29 to july 27 showcasing islamic culture emirati traditions and hospitality; eid in dubai from july 28 to august 1 a grand celebration of the eid al fitr festival that will involve people from all communities; and the iconic family summer extravaganza dubai summer surprises from august 2 to september 5.

dfre and modhesh world organisers are partnering with top international character licensors - rovio sanrio and hasbro - to bring some of the world’s most popular family entertainment concepts to modhesh world.


major attactions

angry birds universe

angry birds universe is fun for all from toddlers to grandparents offering a vast array of educationally scientific activities that focus on innovation creativity and entrepreneurship. it will be opening for eid.


the world premiere of the transformers interactive experience lets pre-teens (above six years) and teenagers test their skills in activities and games through various experiences where children will have to use their hand-eye coordination fine motor and spatial skills problem-solving capabilities and logic. it will be opening for eid.

hello kitty and friends

modhesh world will play host to the world’s most famous cat hello kitty who is bringing along her friends my melody and twin sisters kiki and lala to go on a fun-filled trip to the leading cities of the world – dubai london tokyo moscow and paris. it will start on june 19.


children (above nine years) can participate in five experiences none of which has body contact including super strike which allow participants to play with toys and have their photos taken with a life-sized cut-out. it will start on june 19.

lego/duplo zone

educators have always cited the lego bricks’ potential to help children to develop creativity and problem-solving abilities. this event will commence on june 19.

heritage zone

visitors to this zone can learn more about emirati customs culture and cuisine. it also includes a place for henna designs as well as 20 shops showcasing and selling ethnic merchandise.

winter wonderland

an exciting attraction for children above three years winter wonderland has three distinct ice-themed attractions: an ice rink glide track and snow park that gives a feeling of being in the north pole with artificial snow blowing around.

modhesh fun fair

children can enjoy a variety of rides and games in this zone. extra attention is given to ensure the safety of children during the rides. each ride has specific age and height requirements to guarantee complete safety.

target shooting

indoor target shooting offered by sharjah golf and shooting club is a great alternative to the classic paintball game. with a number of paintballs players (above nine years) must shoot at targets at the end of the shooting range.

water park

children of all ages can enjoy water rides without the fear of getting wet with bumper boats water rollers and pedalos.

rope adventures

children (nine to 12 years) tackle a walkway high in the air wearing a safety harness. they must sign a disclaimer beforehand and the height restriction is 1.2m.

little stars zone

little stars entertains children (3-6 7-10 years) with a variety of activities designed to help the younger ones develop their motor skills under the guidance of trained sports teachers. the older children are taught how to play different sports — football basketball tennis and more. it will start on june 19.

laser quest

using the very latest state-of-the-art equipment pre-teens and teenagers wearing special vests can experience an exhilarating laser tag game within a maze without the mess that paintball creates or physical projectiles. this will also begin on june 19.
