Kuwait- Parliament approves probing possible misdeeds in mass rally


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The National Assembly approved during its session on Wednesday a recommendation obliging the government to investigate the events that took place last night in Al-Eradah Square including the possible wrongdoings. The recommendation calls for probing all statements by speakers and documents that were presented at the gathering. The investigation, that will be carried out by the Public Prosecutor, will incriminate those found guilty under the law and has been giving a one-week deadline to be completed. The recommendation aims at finding out if all words, deeds, and documents presented in the square constitute to crimes punishable by Kuwaiti laws. The recommendation which was signed by a number of MPs refers to "all documents, including any documents obtained by the government, and what has been monitored or recorded during the rally, and speeches that could be mandates or constitute crimes punishable under Kuwaiti laws, to be submitted it to the Public Prosecutor within one week from today." The MPs also demanded that the Audit Bureau and Anti-Corruption Commission announce opening their doors, for one month from today, to citizens to provide any documents related to corruption cases. The recommendation also states that the Audit Bureau, in this regard, has the right to use any third party entities, like international agencies to help with the investigation, in case the Bureau received any documents, and then prepare a report to be submitted to the General Prosecutor or the National Assembly.
