Kuwait- 'Subsidies cut must not harm citizens'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Kuwait city may 22 (kuna): any removal or curbing of product subsidies should not harm regular citizens said minister of oil and minister of state for national assembly affairs dr. ali al-omair here wednesday. speaking at the national assembly regular session today al-omair said that removing subsidies on products such as diesel towards which the government pays around kd 600 million should not have a negative impact on citizens.

the minister however stressed that managing finances was essential to tackle high cost to the state and this includes dossiers such as subsidies. al-omair affirmed that the government and national assembly would work together to find the best solution that would be in favor of citizens.

the minister noted studies and statistics are still to be conducted to guide decision on this and other matters and the government would consider and evaluate any remarks on this issue by the national assembly.(end) sss.tb.gta kuna 21/05/2014 12:36:27 the government's housing plan is going according to schedule said minister of state for housing affairs yasser abul here wednesday.

during the national assembly's regular session abul said that the government and parliament are working together to provide housing for citizens as soon as the situation permits and stressed the people would surely sense the government's commitment in this regard very soon. he noted that 5196 housing units at west abdullah al-mubarak area will be offered soon for citizens affirming that solving this issue require a collaboration of efforts.
