Oman Air wins three prizes at OWA

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman Air has won three categories of the eighth Oman Web Awards (OWA), which were presented at a glittering ceremony held at Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

The chief guest of the event was H E Hamood Sangour al Zadjali, executive president of the Central Bank of Oman.

Oman Air triumphed in the e-commerce, food and bever ages and services categories, in recognition of the carrier's overall website at www.omanair.com, its catering presence at www.catering. omanair.com, and cargo operation at www.cargo.omanair.com.

The prestigious awards follow Oman Air's relaunch of its website over the last few months, which has made it more visually appealing, easier to navigate and simpler to purchase products and services. The website also includes a wealth of information of interest to customers and casual visitors alike and is now enabled in both English and Arabic with more languages to follow.

Salim al Kindy, acting chief executive officer of Oman Air, said, ''We are delighted to have won three categories of the eighth Oman Web Awards, which recognise excellence in web design and web development skills, and encourage all sectors of the economy to be more e-enabled. ''I would like to thank the judges and all involved in the Oman Web Awards for these very special accolades. I would also like to thank all those staff at Oman Air whose hard work in developing our new website has resulted in such acclaim.''

Mohammed Mubarak al Shikely, Oman Air's general manager marketing added, ''Omanair.com is, for many people, their first introduction to Oman Air and is therefore a vital window not just on the airline, but also on Oman. ''Having worked so hard over the last year on redesigning and redeveloping our website, it is extremely gratifying both to receive these wonderful awards and to see the number of people visiting the site continue to increase.''

Oman Air's chief officer information technology, Sourav Sinha, concluded, ''For all of us who work within Oman's information technology sector, winning an award at the Oman Web Awards is a huge honour. To win three awards is remarkable and is a great testament to the hard work, dedication and creativity of Oman Air's web team
