Kuwait- Iranians cheer His Highness Amir's visit


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Iranians are warmly welcoming and anticipating the forthcoming visit of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Tehran early June. "His Highness the Amir's visit to Iran is very important," Advisor of the Speaker of Islamic Shura Council (parliament) for International Affairs Hussein Al-Islam told KUNA. He expressed hopes that His Highness the Amir's talks with Iranian officials would help find solutions to the problems facing the region. Al-Islam stated that he is confident that cooperation among countries of the region would resolve the regional problems. "We are facing the common threat of terrorism. We are also interested in resolving the Syrian crisis and supporting Palestinian cause." "Therefore, the exchange of views at this high level is a very big and important step," he said. He applauded the strong Kuwaiti-Iranian ties as well as the Kuwaiti democratic experience. His Highness the Amir is scheduled to start an official visit to Tehran early next month. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation and is expected to hold talks with several senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rohani. "We welcome the visit which is the first for His Highness the Amir to Iran," Director of the Tehran-based Center for Strategic Studies and International Relations Amir Al-Moussawi told KUNA. He voiced hopes that the visit will give an impetus to Iranian-Kuwaiti and Iranian-Gulf relations. Moussawi noted that His Highness the Amir's upcoming visit is greatly welcomed by both state and people. He added the visit of His Highness the Amir would be pivotal for many regional issues, given the currently exerted efforts to bring together regional countries to address these challenges. "Of course, His Highness the Amir has a vision in this regard and has great political experience," he said. He expected that the talks would culminate with the signing of important political, economic and security cooperation agreements. Meanwhile, Chief Editor of the Iranian newspaper Al-Vefagh Museeb Naimi hailed the visit as a sign on the improvement of the Iran's relations not only with Kuwait but the whole Gulf Cooperation Council member states. "We, in Iran, consider this visit is of utmost importance to the region's stability and peace," he told KUNA. "There is an opportunity and will to strengthen relations for the best of both Iran and Kuwait as well as the whole region." For her part, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham has recently described visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al -Sabah's to Tehran as a decisive move that will signal the start of a new phase in relations between the two countries. She expressed hope the visit would open new horizons for Iranian-Kuwaiti relations and help strengthen regional cooperation and coordination.
