Geo Jang group must apologise to Imran: PTI

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Pakistan tehreek-e-insaaf (pti) information secretary shireen mazari on thursday accused a leading media house of promoting journalism of ?blackmail?.

speaking to reporters here she came up with facts and figures against geo tv accusing it of practising ‘journalism of blackmail’ in pakistan.

she said the pti does not want a ban on geo but if laws have been violated the penalties associated with those laws must be enforced.

mazari said the pti demands an audit of geo jang group and the companies owning these enterprises and a revelation of all sources of funding coming from abroad.

the pti leader said that her party wants geo jang owners to apologise to imran khan for a vilification campaign against him being carried out at their behest by their employees.

the central pti leader claimed that geo provided maximum coverage to the pakistan muslim league-nawaz (pml-n) in 2013 elections whereas the pti was on number three in geo’s coverage slot.

“geo is practising journalism of blackmailing in pakistan whereas sharif is violating the law made by his own party in the past. he is destabilising institutions by supporting a particular media group” she said referring to the prime minister.

mazari criticised geo tv for airing contents against the inter services intelligence (isi) chief after attack on hamid mir in karachi.

“what action was taken by the government when geo was running eight-hour long transmission against pakistan’s intelligence agency despite the fact that information minister pervaiz rashid was contacted by ispr” she questioned. — online
