(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Top seed and defending champion Bharathi Ramachandran sailed past Reeta Shenoy 15-3, 15-8 to take her place in the semifinal of the women's singles at the annual badminton tournament, organised by the Indian Social Club Muscat, on Monday.

Also advancing to the last four stage of the same category were second-seeded Alka Dhavale, third-seeded Mayaja Harish and fourth-seeded Jessy Joseph.

Alka beat Vijayasree Rajan 15-6, 15-6; Mayaja beat Triveni Naidu 15-2, 15-3; Jessy beat Savita 15-4, 16-14; second round: Savita beat Rekha Naithani 15-3, 15-7; Triveni beat Shivani Juyal 15-11, 15-17, 15-12.

Boys' U15 singles (second round): Sanjay Venkat beat Nithin Chandrashekar 16-21, 21-10, 21-9; Praathyush beat Ronan Machado 21-6, 21-6, Jeswin Mathew beat Mohamed Iman 21-18, 21-16; Yash Deshpande beat Anirudh H 21-10, 21-10.
