Egyptian PM appreciates Gulf support during transitional period


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab expressed appreciation Tuesday for the support of the Gulf countries during the transitional period, affirming his country's determination to overcome economic problems. Mahlab made his remarks at the 13th Arab Media Forum (AMF) which opened earlier in Dubai. The Egyptian premier added that his country has taken its first step toward change, particularly after the Egyptian people rejected all bids to undermine their civilized, cultural, and religious identity. Mahlab noted that the upcoming presidential election on May 26th will witness the will of the Egyptian people in building their modern state. Egypt today faces economic, political, and social challenges, but the Egyptian people able to confront such challenges and move aggressively forward, the Egyptian premier added. In response to a question on Syria, Mahlab said all nations must exert efforts to end the humanitarian crisis, adding that Egypt will not allow any foreign military interference in Syria.
