(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Dar al Atta'a will distribute 400 iftar packets at four different mosques every day during the holy month of Ramadan.
May al Bayat, marketing director, Dar al Atta'a, said, ''This is the first time we will distribute iftar packets at mosques in Muscat governorate. We plan to distribute 100 packets at each mosque.
''Earlier, we used to set up tents in Wadi Kabir to distribute the packets. We found that many people who came to collect them were neither fasting nor needy. So, this time, we have decided to distribute them at mosques.''
The charity organisation will also distribute Ramadan ration packs among the needy. ''We plan to distribute new clothes to 3,000 children during both Eids,'' May said.
The organisation will start a campaign to collect donations for its ambitious endowment building, for which an amount of RO1mn has to be raised by April 2015. The building will have commercial spaces, which will be offered for rent.
Revenue from rents will be used as a permanent source of income for Dar al Atta'a to support its programmes and long-term activities.
Formed in 2002, and formally registered in 2006 with the Ministry of Social Development, Dar Al Atta is a non-government, non-profit charity organisation that endeavours to improve the lives of less fortunate individuals.
