Kuwait- 'Inner circles trying to mount pressure on MPs to resign'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Kuwait city may 2: the parliamentary budget and final accounts committee will hold a meeting coming sunday to discuss the budget of kuwait news agency (kuna) for fiscal year 2014/2015 and budget of the kuwait fund for support and development of small and medium enterprises from 04/02/2013 to 31/3/2015 parliamentary sources said.

the meeting will be attended by representatives from the ministry of finance and the state audit bureau. the same sources added that some mps have demanded practical measures by government in the course of implementing the objectives of small enterprises support fund while reviewing the current measures that have been criticized by the majority of individuals who have presented initiatives for their projects. sources said the mps will demand a shortcut to existing procedures to facilitate the condition of acceptance for benefiting from the enterprise fund as current procedures do not fulfill objectives.

they noted the mps' condition will be key reference before approval of budget for the fund. in another development parliamentary sources disclosed that some parliamentary inner circles are trying to mount pressure on members of the national assembly to file their resignation to the extent of paying money to any of them who agrees to resign. according to sources those inner circles consider the resignation of the mps a dream of the opponents of parliament which they want to make a reality thus they seek to cause the maximum number of mps to resign so as to bring down the government to implement the opposition's agenda.

they said the circles may not see many mps resign as expected by some parties in opposition because until now only three mps- riyadh al-adsani abdul-kareem al- kandari and hussein al-quweian have presented their resignation and they might be joined by ali al- rashid and safa al-hashem who already have political calculation over the government and the parliament ever since al-rashid lost the speaker of parliament post to the incumbent speaker marzouq al- ghanim. they stressed that the resignation of the mps will be minimal and in the end bye elections will take place indicating the situation will return to normal at the beginning of the next legislative term where the number of mps will be complete.
