(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) A senior Kuwaiti delegation held talks here Sunday with Jordan's Regent Prince Faisal Bin Al Hussein over bilateral relations and the repercussions of the Syrian crisis in the region.

The Kuwaiti delegation comprised Minister for Social Affairs and Labour and Minister of State for Planning and Development Affairs Hind Al-Subaih and Amiri Diwan Advisor, Representative of the UN Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and President of the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) Abdullah Al-Maatouq.

Following the meeting with Prince Faisal, Minister Al-Subaih told KUNA that the talks focused on boosting bilateral cooperation to achieve sustainable development and to relief Syrian refugees who have fled to Jordan to escape the three-year devastating conflict in their country. She added the meeting also discussed how to make the best use of the donations raised by Kuwaiti NGOs to develop Jordanian communities that host Syrian refugees.

Al-Maaouq, on his part, voiced Kuwait's keenness to further enhance relations with Jordan and praised the role played by the Kingdom in addressing the challenges facing the region, most notably the Syrian refugees.

Kuwait, he said, was ready to support Jordan in the development field, mainly in the northern regions that are hosting Syrian refugees, to ease the pressure they are facing.

Meanwhile, Prince Faisal underlined his country's keenness to boost relations with Kuwait and expand the partnership in various fields. He also voiced pride of the level of relations between the two countries and peoples.

The Regent highlighted the increasing burden being shouldered by Jordan as a result of hosting a large number of Syrian refugees and the pressure they place on the Kingdom's limited resources.

Prince Faisal also expressed Jordan's appreciation of Kuwait's continued support to the Kingdom in various fields, which enables it to address the challenges facing it, mainly in the economic field.
