GCC mission condemns recent attacks in Yemen


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The GCC mission in Yemen on Wednesday condemned recent terrorist attacks that hit military facilities and diplomatic missions in Sanaa and other parts of the country. "The Gulf Cooperation Council's mission supports all security precautions taken by the Yemeni Government to combat terrorism and stand in face of any attempt to thwart the ongoing political process in the country based on the GCC Initiative and its executive mechanism," said a statement by the mission. Earlier today, Yemeni President Abd Raboh Mansour Hadi received a call from GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdulatif Al-Zayani, during which, the latter voiced the GCC's support to whatever Yemen sees feasible to manifest outcomes of the inclusive national dialogue. According to Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Al-Zayani said that combating terrorism is a joint responsibility within the international framework. Meanwhile, the Yemeni interior ministry announced earlier today the apprehension of five al-Qaida members in the capital, Sanaa. The apprehended had weapons and ammunition intended to be used in terrorist attacks, according to a ministry statement. Also, security forces managed to eliminate the leader of a mob specialized in kidnapping foreigners in Sanaa, as well as arresting three more of the same mob.
