UAE- Sir Bu Nuair Island project to be completed in 2017


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) T to be completed in 2017 the island will host a luxury five-star hotel & resort hotel apartments and villas a village an amphitheatre a museum a mosque an education centre a harbour an airport and a number of retail outlets and other leisure offerings.the sharjah investment and development authority known as shurooq on tuesday announced the details of the ground-breaking sir bu nuair island project during its participation in the arabian travel market (atm).one of shurooq’s largest initiatives to-date the sir bu nuair island project which will be developed at an estimated cost of dh500 million seeks to recreate the vibrant social commercial and community fabric in the island to attract tourists and visitors from the uae and beyond.set to be completed in 2017 the island will host a luxury five-star hotel & resort hotel apartments and villas a village an amphitheatre a museum a mosque an education centre a harbour an airport and a number of retail outlets and other leisure offerings.speaking about the project shurooq marwan bin jassim al sarkal said the aim of this landmark project is to turn this vitally important island into a unique destination.“the project will stretch over an area of 37721 square metres making it one of shurooq’s most ambitious undertakings to date and the result is set to become one of the rarest gems on the crown of sharjah and the uae’s tourist destinations.”al sarkal stated that once completed sir bu nuair island project will include a luxury hotel with the main structure featuring sixty 1-bedroom suite units in addition to a number of beach chalets and houses. the second part of the hotel will include 17 suites and chalets on the hotel’s turtle beach. the development will also include a 9693 square metre village that will feature two two-bedroom villas 10 three-bedroom villas four four-bedroom villas and one vip villa. in addition to the villas the village will feature a total of 30 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom apartments in both simplex and duplex arrangements.the development will also include activity centre with student accommodation with 22 six-bed chalets for the various educational programmes that will run on the island.the shurooq ceo emphasised that great care and attention given by shurooq to protect and preserve the island’s vitally important ecology in collaboration with the environment and protected areas authority (epaa).“our aim is to leverage sir bu nuair’s unmatched natural beauty and ecological worth to create a destination that will offer an exceptional leisure experience while also protecting the rare ecological treasures it holds.”shurooq’s portfolio of projects that are being showcased to visitors at atm 2014 also includes al jabal resort – the chedi khorfakkan the kalba eco-tourism project and the heart of sharjah and al bait hotel as well as its already established and highly popular destinations including al qasba al majaz waterfront and the recently opened al montazah amusement and water park among other projects currently undertaken by the authority.
