Qatar- Campaign to prevent theft


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) A group of employees of shops and commercial complexes were given tips on how to prevent thefts and other crimes during an awareness campaign organised by South Security Community Policing section on Monday. The event titled "Harees" (Careful) was the first of a series of programmes to promote security. South Security Community Policing officer Lt Col Arif Mohammad Abdul Rahman said that the campaign is aimed at spreading security awareness among commercial establishments, shops and their employees. The campaign is scheduled in various stages with the first phase aiming at shops, consumer cooperatives, restaurants, bakeries and all other establishments located within the area of south security department. The second phase will be under the theme "secure your car" followed by the third with the theme "Secure your home" and then with "Secure your school". During the campaign stickers with the logo "Harees - Partnership is our way towards a safe community" were distributed to the participants. The hotline numbers and email of community policing, and printed guidelines about security measures to prevent theft in Arabic, English and Urdu were also given away. The speaker advised the participants to be alert in safety issues and asked them to make necessary measures to ensure security in homes and shops and to install surveillance cameras. If any crime occurs people should contact 999 or hotline 33417171 and not to tamper with the crime scene, the audience was told.
