(MENAFN - Arab News) Eastern province gov. prince saud bin naif opened the science and technology week 2014 on sunday at the al-seef hall on alkhobar corniche. the event was organized by the king abdulaziz city for science and technology (kacst) in collaboration with saudi aramco.

the five-day event will feature scientific issues and technical products being constructed in king abdulaziz city's research centers giving visitors a glimpse of the developmental programs and develop their thinking and scientific research skills through interactive experiences.

the exhibition has more than 30 suites with presentations and live scientific experiments conducted in a number of areas and disciplines such as robots solar-system-running products petrochemical products and planetarium shows.

the week's activities will also host a number of lectures by researchers from the city ncluding 'initiative of twenty students from twenty schools" 'saving energy" 'environment and life" and 'what is a patent and how to preserve its rights."



the science and technology week aims to create a knowledge-based environment for visitors and spread awareness of the principles of science and technology one of the objectives of the national policy in the kingdom. the event is an attempt to take the concept of scientific centers and research laboratories to the common man in a language he can understand. many of the tools are easily adaptable to everyday life and the concepts will be made available to all age groups.

the science and technology week 2014's organizers have arranged for visits in two shifts over five days with the morning sessions from 8 a.m. to 12 noon reserved for school and university students and the evenings from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. open for everybody.
