(MENAFN - Arab News) The benchmark tadawul all-share index (tasi) closed tuesday's trading session down by 11.18 points or 0.12 percent to 9606.58 after being low as much as 55 points during the day.

large caps contributed to the weak closing of the market. heavy weight saudi telecom showing excessive losses of 5.14 percent became the major decliner at tadawul closing the day at sr67.99.

most of the major sectors closed in the green territory accumulating an aggregate of nearly 379 points.

one of the best performing sectors was insurance which rose to 2.27 percent closing at 1371.08. transport was another significant advancer which gained over two percent to 8725.40.

on the negative side telecommunication & information technology sector became the biggest decliner down 65 points or 2.03 percent to 3105.83.

the market breadth was strong for the day as 90 stocks witnessing advances and other 50 stocks marking a decline.

alalamiya cooperative insurance co. turned in a splendid performance among all saudi stocks soaring up 9.88 percent and hitting a new all time high of sr86.75. saudi paper manufacturing co. also surged 9.88 percent flashing to a new 5-year high before closing at sr63.71.

tadawul volume went slightly down by 6.9 percent and traded 347.6 million shares as compared to previous day's 373.4 million shares.

but still it was 10.6 percent greater than 50-day average of 314.3 million shares.

equity turnover reached to sr10.4 billion an increase of 17.4 percent over the 50-day average value.

the most active dar alarkan real estate development co. rose to a highest level in almost two years to sr13 before closing at sr12.97. the company liquidated more than 42 million shares a relative market share of 12 percent.
