(MENAFNEditorial) Ras Al Khaimah, UAE: 20 April 2014 – Beach Resort by BIN MAJID HOTELS & RESORTS in conjunction with Siren Events, will host inauguration of RAK Dragon Boat Festival under the patronage of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation and the RAK International Marine Sports Club on the 25th and 26th of April 2014.The hugely popular Dragon Boat Festival will involve 40 teams from all over the UAE and GCC. There will be several racing categories that bring together corporate, university, school and community groups from across the UAE competing over various race distances.
With hordes of activities planned for people around the event, the organisers are confident of bringing together the community while watching the races. The Dragon Boat race will be held from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Friday the 25th and from 11:00am to 5:00pm on the 26th, with over 6000 participants in 40 teams expected to take part.
"This is the first Dragon Boat Race and Festival event to take place in RAK. There will be a number of activities and events for the community to enjoy throughout the day while the teams' battle it out in the waters," says Govind Prathap, General Manager, BIN MAJID HOTELS & RESORTS. Dragon boating is a thrilling watersport, full of adrenaline, sportsmanship, strategy and technique. It also boasts over 50 million annual competitors all over the world.
The UAE Dragon Boat Association, under the patronage of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation has been holding Dragon Boat competitions in the UAE annually during the last seven years and are now excited about the prospect of expanding into the rapidly developing Ras Al Khaimah region.
