US newspapers revenue falls 2.6 percent in 2013


(MENAFN) Newspapers in the United States have posted lower revenue in 2013 on transition to digital, according to Arab News. Newspaper industry revenue dropped by 2.6 in 2013 to reach USD37.59 billion compared to USD38.60 billion in 2012. However, circulation revenues grew by 3.7 percent to USD10.87 billion in the twelve-month period. Advertising in the traditional printed daily and Sunday newspaper dropped by 8.6 percent, reaching USD17.3 billion, while digital advertising boosted by 1.5 percent to USD3.4 billion.
